The good, the bad, and the ugly truth - the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, Luke 18:9-17

Sermons from Pakenham Lakeside Church show

Summary:
Now let's get one thing straight. The Pharisee in this parable was a good guy. And the Tax Collector was a bad bloke.
This parable from Jesus exposes the ugly truth about good guys, bad blokes and the reality of sin...the cost of making sin right, and the beautiful truth that comes from God doing that for us through Jesus. It's not a morality play about humility and pride. It's an expose of sin and atonement.

The final truth is that as God's people, we are 'at the same time saint and sinner.' Fully and freely justified by God's grace and at the same time, always in need of God's atoning forgiveness.

This sermon was preached on Sunday, 23rd October 2016 at Pakenham Lakeside Church.
It can be enhanced by the Prezi zooming visuals found at this link.
Enjoy!
