Summary: All four gospels record Peter's failure when he denied knowing Jesus as Jesus was on his way to crucifixion. At that moment, Jesus was seen as a "liability" and Peter wanted to save his own skin. What makes it worse, peter had promised Jesus that he would never abandon him even if all the other disciples did! Have you ever made a promise to God that you didn't or couldn't keep? Have you ever denied knowing God or downplayed being a Christian because you were too embarrassed or too ashamed?
