Classical Music Discoveries show

Summary: Mozart’s Symphony Number 26 was written and completed in a single day, March 30, 1773. This was done exactly one month after completing his third Italian tour. This 3-movement symphony is scored for 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 horns, 2 trumpets and strings. Since the entire symphony is just over 8 minutes in length, it is sometimes referred to as an overture. This symphony is often used as an overture, so to speak, at many all Mozart concerts to warm the audience up for the rest of the evening. Symphony number 27 was composed the following month, in April 1773. This 3-movement symphony is scored for 2 flutes, 2 horns and strings.
