Summary: The war in Syria has killed hundreds of thousands of people. Millions have been displaced, and ancient cities have been destroyed. But there appears to be no end in sight. The heavy bombardment of the northern city of Aleppo by Russian and Syrian forces continues. Previous talks have ended in disappointment and disagreement. US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov are now back at the negotiating table meeting their counterparts from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar.
