Voyages of Banyandah: Tasmania Adventure 2

TheSailingChannel.TV show

Summary: A film by Jack & Jude Binder Returning to Tasmania a couple years after their first voyage, Jack & Jude take their "Green Machine" kayak up rivers few explore. In World Heritage Port Davey, they paddle through an exquisite gorge. Next, they trek overland to the far south coast of Tasmania, where they explore off track, again in perfect photographic conditions. Taking Banyandah across the shallow Old River Bar, Jack & Jude kayak up river to locate a last stand of mature Huon Pines, and search for the lonely grave site of Critchley Parker, an ill equipped dreamer. Departing the Old River, they sail Banyandah south under Tasmania's Maatsuyker, braving a spunky fresh gale to reach safety in Recherché Bay on Tasmania’s East Coast. About Jack & Jude Two veteran Australian sailors return to the sea following a 15-year refit of their self-built Ferro cement ketch, "Banyandah" (aboriginal word meaning “home on the water”) which had carried them and their two sons around the world. With the kids grown, it's time for Jack and Jude to complete their 9,000 mile circumnavigation of Australia.
