Episode 315: The Paris Episode (Plus Penguins)!

Our Hen House show

Summary: Welcome to the 315th episode of Our Hen House, featuring our stay in Paris, with guests Jean-Luc Zieger of Un Monde Vegan, writer Aurelia d’Andrea, and Jenny Eric of My Kitch’n, and a special segment with Alessandra Seiter for Penguin Awareness Day. As always, the award-winning, weekly Our Hen House podcast is hosted by us — Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan.
Grab a cup of coffee and join us for our recent stay in Paris, where Mariann was speaking at the La Fondation Droit Animal Ethique et Sciences (LFDA) conference! We’ll give your the skinny on this conference, and on Mariann’s talk about farmed animal law.
Pour yourself a second cup of coffee and prepare yourself to follow us around as we recorded in a cafe (or two), a vegan grocery story, and a vegan restaurant! We had a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower, too!
Not only do we squawk about Mariann’s presentation at the conference and countering the depressing topics with great food, but we tell tales about airplane food, the chocolate cake that wasn’t, a bizarre lesbian bar, and the real word for vegan in French. We interview Jean-Luc Zieger at Un Monde Vegan, where we bought the best vegan white chocolate ever. We spoke about food activism in France with Paris-based vegan lifestyle writer Aurelia d’Andrea, and with Jenny Eric of My Kitch’n Paris, who also uses her restaurant space for meetings to support vegan entrepreneurs.
We go from Paris to NYC in our news segment to hear the latest from Donny Moss. Then it’s on to the penguins! The always charming Alessandra Seiter tells us how to appreciate penguins beyond watching the movie Happy Feet! Just in time for Penguin Awareness Day — imagine that!

You can listen to our podcast directly on our website (beneath this paragraph!) or you can listen and subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher!
