Summary: Every season the Southwest Symphony Orchestra features youth soloists in the “Salute to Youth” concert.  This concert features young classical musicians in the Southern Utah area and never fails to disappoint audience all over the world through our broadcasts. This year’s  youth soloists and music selections are: Adam Costello, piano, performing Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G Major - Allegremente” Sabrena Scheffel, cello, performing Saint-Saens’ “Allegro Appassionato in B minor for Cello, Op. 43” Rachel Kaneversky, clarinet, performing Weber’s “Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F minor, Op. 73 - Allegro moderato” Teague Lawrence, violin, performing Wieniawski’s “Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Op. 22 - Allegro moderato” Aubrey Aikele, piano, performs Mendelssohn’s “Piano Concerto No 2, Op. 40 - Allegro appassionato” Violinists Audrey Godfrey and Aly Candland team up to perform Sarasate’s “Navarra for Two Violins, Op.33” The concert concludes with an exceptional performance by Abigail Clark of Prokofiev’s “Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Op. 63 - Allegro moderato” To watch high definition videos of each of these performances, please visit the Southwest Symphony Orchestra playlist on YouTube or visit the orchestra’s website at www.SouthwestSymphony.co.  A CD of this concert is also available at www.ClassicalRecordings.co First, the concert opens with Smetana’s “Dance of the Comedians” from “The Bartered Bride.” The concert is conducted by Maestro Gary Caldwell.
