Getting #gheedup with Mitul Parekh – PMR #94

Paleo Magazine Radio show

Summary: If you follow the Paleo movement on Instagram, chances are you’re familiar with OMghee. Founded by Mitul Parekh, OMghee’s mission is to produce the best-quality ghee humanly possible. This clarified butter is traditionally used in Indian cooking, and Mitul was first exposed to ghee by his grandmother, who always kept a big jar on the kitchen counter. As an adult, and after going through a couple of ups and downs health-wise, he rediscovered how good ghee actually is for you while attending a Paleo workshop at his CrossFit gym. He turned to his friend and said, hey, we’ve got to get in on this, and they began to explore how they could bring high-quality ghee to the Paleo community. In the second half of the show, Tony speaks with Dan Kish, Vice President of Food for Panera Bread. You heard that right: Panera Bread. Panera is rolling out a new initiative to give their customers more selection, more choices, more options, and then to also provide more transparency, including options for Paleo-friendly items at their stores. We know it’s hard to believe, but we're going to let you guys decide for yourself if you think Panera’s heart is in the right place after listening to Dan Kish talk. CLICK HERE for full transcript of the show In This Episode You’ll Hear: What drove Mitul to launch OMghee The top 3 fats you should cook with A peek into Vedic farming practices Mitul's favorite use of ghee The down low on Panera Bread's food Where Panera sees the "clean food" movement going Links & Resources From This Episode Check out OMghee’s site, OMghee.com Visit OMghee on Instagram | Facebook Check out Panera’s site, PaneraBread.com Thanks for listening!
