Join us as we’ll discuss: The importance of being financially prepared to retire to another passion The blessing (and curse) of being impassioned about something Explore your talents and don’t be afraid to use them for the greater good Pierette Domenica Simpson was born in northern Italy and immigrated to the U.S. on the last voyage of the luxurious ocean liner, Andrea Doria. She studied foreign languages at Wayne State University in Detroit. As an educator, Ms. Simpson was recognized as “Michigan Foreign Language Teacher of the Year of 1996”. She retired after 37 years, to become an Andrea Doria historian, working with marine scientists, divers, and survivors. In 2012, she was named honorary member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers for her scientific expertise on the Andrea Doria shipwreck. By her region of Italy, the Piedmont, Pierette was honored internationally with the “Piemontese Leadership” and “Honorary Citizen” titles. Currently, she is writing a screenplay for a Short film on the shipwreck, hoping to have it made into a feature film for 2016, the 60th anniversary. Ms. Simpson currently lives in Novi, Michigan.
