Summary: Women are a relative rarity in the fire service for the most part. Meanwhile, police departments, construction, and other traditionally male dominated jobs are different. Why? Are there inherent hurdles because of the job? What do fire departments gain by hiring women? How can diversifying the knowledge base be a benefit?
