1 - Answering the Fool

Unbelievers Radio: Complete Content show

Summary: The topic of this podcast, "Answering the Fool", is borrowed from the less than charitable title of Sye Ten Bruggencate's documentary "How to Answer the Fool". This podcast is a discussion on the debate between Matt Dillahunty and Sye Ten Bruggencate, as well as the debate between Bill Nye and Ken Ham, and the larger issue of whether or not debates of this sort should take place at all. We do not debate gravity or germ theory, so why debate evolution or debate a presuppositionalist? What are the merits to such a debate, if there are any at all? Send us your feedback on the podcast and your thoughts on the topic by commenting below, or emailing mail@unbelieversradio.com.   Barna Group poll: https://www.barna.org/barna-update/article/16-teensnext-gen/147-most-twentysomethings-put-christianity-on-the-shelf-following-spiritually-active-teen-years#.U5oujY1dVgY USA Today study: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/printedition/life/20070807/d_churchdropout07.art.htm   --------UPDATE--------At Unbelievers Radio we believe in not only promoting intellectual honesty in others, but in ourselves as well. In that spirit, we issue this correction and apology. Andre had brought up a meme during the podcast that does not portray an argument of Sye Ten Bruggencate's in the fairest light. When you include what Sye Ten Bruggencate had said before what's presented in the meme and podcast, it becomes more coherent and valid:1. If the Quran is true, then the Bible is true.(Basic)2. The Quran says the Bible is the word of God. (Basic)3. The Quran says the word of God is incorruptible. (Basic)4. The Quran says the Bible has been corrupted. (Basic)5. According to the Quran, the Bible is word of God and corrupted. (From 2, 4)6. Therefore, the Quran is false. (From 3, 5)  Here's a link to this part of the debate: http://youtu.be/OL8LREmbDi0?t=1h19m30s Everyone makes mistakes like this, what's important is admitting when we do.
