The Science Behind EFT for Weight Loss with Special Guest Dr. Peta Stapleton

EFT Radio show

Summary: Join Karen Donaldson, MS, RD, LD and her special guest Dr. Peta Stapleton as they discuss the amazing research showing the effectiveness of EFT tapping for weight loss.  Dr. Stapleton is a registered Clinical and Health Psychologist and Assistant Professor at Bond University in Australia.  She specializes in eating disorders, women's health and adolescent issues.   In 2008 Dr Peta Stapleton led a world first clinical trial investigating the effectiveness of Emotional Freedom Techniques for food cravings.  96 overweight or obese adults attended a 4-week (8 hour) program and EFT was associated with a significantly greater improvement in food cravings, the subjective power of food and craving restraint and this was maintained 12-months later. A year later participants had lost an average of 5.5 kilograms (11 lbs). Peta has just concluded examining EFT versus a gold standard, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), for 88 obese adults.  Both the EFT and CBT groups were equally effective at reducing food cravings BUT the EFT group lost on average 3.66 kilograms from pre to post and 6.79 kilograms from pre to 6-months. The CBT group lost only 1.1 kilograms from pre to post, with a total loss of 4.33 kilograms from pre to 6-months. The EFT treatment was superior for weight loss!
