Summary: Subscribe to the Let’s Talk Bitcoin! Network Feed SovereignBTC Episode 7 - Bitcoin is what you make of it In this episode of SovereignBTC, we explore Bitcoin from a few different perspectives.  First, we share with you an excerpt from a panel discussion hosted by my lovely wife, Catherine Bleish (AKA The Bit Mom), that took place at Sunday’s 512-Bitcoin mini-conference on women in bitcoin.  The conversation is lively and the women are jazzed up about Bitcoin. 512-Bitcoin, the host of the mini-conference, is a resource center for the Central Texas Bitcoin eco-system. The firm operates a telephone information help-line for all things Bitcoin related in Central Texas, publishes a blog and podcast covering news and views from the local Bitcoin scene, and they host regular educational and networking events.  It’s an exciting project I’m proud to be a part of.  We are hoping it makes it easier for Central Texas residents to get involved with Bitcoin. Headlining the mini-conference was Cody Wilson of Defense Distributed and Unsystem.  In this weeks podcast, we’re bringing you just a bit of the compelling speech he delivered to the crowd on the need to maintain and grow Bitcoin’s radical potential. Also in attendance at the Conference was Lynn Ulbricht, mother of Ross Ulbricht, the alleged organizer of the Silk Road, an online black and gray marketplace that used bitcoin exclusively for the trading of goods and services.  I was honored to meet Lynn and hear about her courageous actions to support her imprisoned son.  I met up with her a couple days after the conference and recorded an intimate interview about her son Ross, the charges he is facing, and what liberty activists and bitcoin enthusiasts alike can do to support him.  To learn more now, visit FreeRoss.org.  Remember folks, it’s not just Ross on trial right now.  This case will likely set precedent on how law enforcement officials handle online sales and anonymous transactions with crypto-currencies.  The long and short of it is that Ross Ulbricht, whether he is guilty of the charges he is accused of, has harmed no one.  There is no victim, and in my book, no victim no crime. To close down this weeks podcast, I read an article written in the Wall Street Journal Blog that covered the 512-Mini-conference and the roll anarchism is playing in the bitcoin movement.  As Cody Wilson points out in the speech we’ll be playing later, it’s important for those who value bitcoin for the role it is playing in disrupting the status quo to make sure that message is included in the conversation.  Judging by the coverage from the Wall Street Journal, I think we did just that. Strap yourself in folks and get ready for yet another jam packed and exciting edition of the SovereignBTC podcast, your guide to the practical side of everyday Bitcoin use.
