FlyLady and Friends show

Summary: The National Meningitis Association (NMA) estimates that 800 to 1,200 people are infected with meningococcal disease each year in the US. Meningococcal disease can cause bacterial meningitis and sepsis, both serious and life-threatening conditions. Despite treatment, 10-15% of those infected die from this devastating disease; and without treatment, the mortality rate is 70-90%. Every 10 minutes, one person dies worldwide from meningococcal disease. Lynn Bozof is the President of the National Meningitis Association (NMA). Lynn will speak about World Meningitis Day (April 24th) to help raise public awareness so more people are educated about the signs, symptoms and prevention methods of this potentially deadly disease. Jamie Schanbaum is a 25 year old survivor of meningococcal septicemia. Jamie recently participated in a global awareness campaign with world-renowned photographer Anne Geddes called Protecting Our Tomorrows: Portraits of Meningococcal Disease. Her portrait will be featured in a free eBook available on World Meningitis Day (April 24) on iBooks AS THE SAYING GOES, WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, YOU MAKE LEMONADE.
