Not Just Going to Church

Reaching Your World with Luis Palau show

Summary: Some people might think that going to church, being baptized, or taking communion makes you a Christian. None of these things take the place of a relationship with Jesus Christ. A Christian does these things, but they don’t make him or her a Christian.I was in Scotland at a festival, and two women in their 50s gave their lives to Jesus Christ. We found out those women had been teaching Sunday School for 30 years! But they themselves said, “We’ve come to realize that we don’t have Christ in our hearts.”Someone can have a respect for the church and all of the activities that happen inside it. They could even participate in all of the activities! But this doesn’t make them Christians. Being a Christian isn’t about what you DO. It’s about what Christ did for you! As the Bible says, “For it’s by GRACE you have been saved, by faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.”Even Fidel Castro was baptized as a young child. This didn’t matter. What mattered was in his heart. What matters is what is in your hearts. We need to make sure our hearts and the hearts of those around us are surrendered to Christ! Share this truth with your world today.
