Why this neck of the woods?  Because in its gold mining and county-seat heyday, Jacksonville was home to a thriving community of Chinese immigrants. By and large, they went back to China when the boom years ended, after persecution and even legislation against them. On the eve of the <a target="_blank"><strong><span style="color: blue;">Chinese New Year celebrations</span></strong></a> in Jacksonville, we'll learn about the poor treatment of the immigrants, and the legacy they left.</p>
