Summary: Is politics only for politicians? How do you feel about celebrities running for national office? International lecturer, author, and spiritual teacher Marianne Williamson  recently announced her candidacy for California's Congressional District 33. I'll talk with Marianne about her candidacy as well as the New York Times bestseller's latest book A Year of Miracles, Daily Devotions and Reflections. Marianne has been a popular guest on television programs including Oprah, Larry King Live, Good Morning America and Charlie Rose. In December 2006, a NEWSWEEK magazine poll named Marianne Williamson one of the fifty most influential baby boomers, and for good reason. The Houston, Texas native gets things done. In 1989, she founded Project Angel Food, a meals-on-wheels program that serves homebound people with AIDS in the Los Angeles area. Today, Project Angel Food serves over 1,000 people daily. Marianne also founded the Department of Peace Campaign, a grass roots campaign to establish a United States Department of Peace. She serves on the Board of Directors of the RESULTS organization, which works to end poverty in the United States and around the world.
