Summary: Scientists Find Evidence Of 'God Particle:' Scientists working at the world's biggest atom-smashing machine, the Large Hadron Collider, are expected to announce on Wednesday that they've gathered enough evidence to show that Higgs boson, the so-called God particle, does exist. We talk to a UW scientist who has been working at the Large Hadron Collider. Author George R.R. Martin: With HBO's "Game of Thrones," George R.R. Martin's world of Westeros has reached a wider audience. Martin began writing science fiction stories in the 1970s, and early on, his stories were nominated for awards. Raised in a housing project in New Jersey, he used to write monster stories for the neighborhood kids. As a conscientious objector during the Vietnam era, he worked as a VISTA volunteer. After disappointing sales for his fourth novel, he turned to writing scripts for a new version of the Twilight Zone. In 1996, he published the first novel, "A Game of Thrones," from his growing series, "A Song of Ice and Fire." The fourth, "A Dance with Dragons," was an international best seller. George R.R. Martin joins us to talk about his career, his relationship with his fans and his growing collection of comic books.
