EPISODE 315 - What We've Been Watching X

Horroretc Podcast show

Summary: After a month of roaming, we're back in the studio again. It's been a very busy summer so we take the opportunity to catch our breath and kick back with some offerings haven't been casual banter. Is it From The Hip or What We've Been Watching? We don't know, but there are plenty of recent watches shared mixed in with the usual tangents. The late summer big screen offerings haven't been great but we did find a couple titles worth mentioning - The World's End rounds out the Pegg/Frost/Wright pseudo trilogy in a satisfying way, and Ted believes You're Next offers more than what appears to be just another home invasion slasher outing. Looking for more than what's there or tuning in to the underlying tongue in cheek vibe meant for horror fans to pick up on - you be the judge. Things veer wildly across genres as we discuss the ultra-moody Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, classic Hammer studio lesbian vampires in Vampire Lovers, pause for thoughtful drama with Mud and Prince Avalanche, indulge in nostalgia with Ghostbusters and People Under The Stairs, and rave over Chan Wook Park's mesmerizing Stoker. Things close out with another Steven Miller indie outing (hot of the heels of Silent Night), The Aggression Scale - a young Dexter stand-in fights back against home invaders. Of course, we can`t have a Robocop remake trailer release go by without throwing in our two cents. Our promised book club follow up is coming very soon.
