Their main responsibility is to prepare, set, dose, and pack the spinnaker and head sails as quickly and correctly as possible. During the pre-start, the Bow Men play a critical role in signaling the distance to the start line and the position of opponents to the Helmsman. The Bow Men must possess a high level of agility, athleticism, and strength as they perform acrobatic maneuvers to adjust the spinnaker pole and sails at the business end of an America's Cup racing yacht.
