TheSailingChannel.TV show

Summary: This is the ninth and final episode in a series of videos describing the roles of crew members aboard the BMW ORACLE America's Cup Racing Yacht. You can view the full 22-minute video at Sail.tv In this final episode, we learn about the two Bow Men who make up the foredeck team and run the front of the boat. Their main responsibility is to prepare, set, dose, and pack the spinnaker and head sails as quickly and correctly as possible. During the pre-start, the Bow Men play a critical role in signaling the distance to the start line and the position of opponents to the Helmsman. The Bow Men must possess a high level of agility, athleticism, and strength as they perform acrobatic maneuvers to adjust the spinnaker pole and sails at the business end of an America's Cup racing yacht.
