Crocdoc Live!

Reptile Radio Australia show

Summary: We will be discussing Monitors with David Kirshner (Crocdoc) this week! David grew up in central Canada, where for some strange reason (given their scarcity there) he developed an interest in reptiles from a very young age. By the time he was in his late teens, much to the dismay of his parents (and to the embarrassment of his present day self), he was keeping everything from boas and Burmese pythons to iguanas and tegus, even an American alligator, in the family basement. When he reached university age, David turned his hobby into his profession by studying zoology. He then pursued his first love for his post-graduate degree, by choosing to research saltwater crocodiles for his PhD, which brought him to Australia. Lace monitors was a species he had been fascinated with from as far back as his childhood reptile keeping days in Canada. A chance meeting with Australian herping legend Anthony Stimson at an Australia Day party lead to David acquiring a hatchling ‘lacie’ and the rest, as they say, is history, for David has been keeping and breeding them since. We expect that this will be one of the great podcast monitor discussions of all time!
