Summary: - wisdom is not just knowledge, it's knowing when to apply knowledge at the right time and in the right amount. It's the ability to recognize teachable moments. Prerequisites of Wisdom: 1. Trusting in the Lord (Prov. 1:7) - to rely or cling to - the whole theme of the book of Proverbs is summed up in this one verse. - the fear of the Lord is reverential respect and honor of God 2. Passionately pursue wisdom (Prov. 4:7-8) - personify and embrace wisdom - ask God for wisdom (James 1:5) - reading through the Proverbs - buy lunch for someone who has wisdom you need and spend time with them. 3. Embrace an accurate moral code (Prov. 4:18-19) - moral code functions like a compass - an immoral code is like a broken compass and you just get more and more lost - begin moral code by commiting wholly to God - grace requires more than what the law required - start with the ten commandments - Colossians 3:5 - greed, sexual immorality, lust, are all idols - covetry is just deceoption 4. Build a life consistent with god's plans (Prov. 19:21, James 4:13-15) - wise people commit their plans to God
