Milwaukee and WWI

AMERICAN HISTORY RULES! show

Summary: Milwaukee and WWI The years 1914-1918 were a time of unusual tension in Wisconsin (and especially Milwaukee). As the nations in Europe squared off against one another in a bloody conflict, many of the residents of the Badger State and Brew City identified with wither side … and at the beginning of the war, Badger sentiment leaned heavily toward the Central Powers. As the war progressed, Wisconsin and Milwaukee moved toward the side of the Allies, especially when the US entered the war in 1917. World War I had a profound impact on the home front in Milwaukee.
