Summary: Ephesians 6:1-4June 21, 2009Dr. Roger Ferguson, Senior Pastor THEME: Government tries to fix broken financial and manufacturing institutions and some think it will fail and others think it will be corrected. Families are hurting but they don’t need fixing. Instead we must return to the Biblical blue-print for parent/child relationships. The Heavenly Father designed family and knows how it works. Let’s study it! I. The Gospel of Jesus Christ liberates the family . (Eph. 6:1) “Parent” means “in the place of God”. II. What God and Godly parents want children to know. (Eph. 6:1-4) 1. “No parent or child is perfect.” 2. “If you learn to obey today, you’ll avoid a painful tomorrow.” 3. “Your parent doesn’t want to constrict you but to release you.” Now, it’s your turn:1. Parent, you are God’s chosen instrument to shape the children He’s entrusted you to raise in His image. Ask God to help you lead your home by instruction and example.2. Children, circle the sub-point under #2 where God spoke to you and adjust your attitude to follow Christ in that area.3. All of us, tell that special dad, grandfather, etc. how grateful you are for him. 4. Have you asked Christ to save you and be the Leader of your life?
