A couple of things to think about: Make sure you use AT LEAST one external backup device. Best solution would be to use both external drive as well as Cloud storage. Make sure your internet connection is firewalled properly. Check out how to set up a wireless router properly. Keep your systems patched properly. DO NOT LEAVE your admin system log on account wide open and let others use it.
