Naomi Benaron’s debut novel Running the Rift won the 2010 Bellwether Prize for a novel of social change. It was a Barnes and Noble Discover New Writers pick and was named as one of Oprah’s best books of 2012. Other awards include the Sharat Chandra Prize for Fiction, the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Prize and the Joy Harjo Poetry Prize. Her fiction, nonfiction and poetry appear in many in print and online journals. She teaches writing online for UCLA Extension Writers’ Program and is a mentor for the Afghan Women’s Writing Project.
