Summary: I'm author of five novels, including The Silk Code, which won the Locus Award for Best First Science Fiction Novel of 1999, and my current novel, The Plot to Save Socrates. Here I offer a four-minute tutorial on how to sell a novel. The salient points are do not send it in over the transom, and you do not necessarily need an agent. What you do need is the editor to know you, or at least who are, prior to sending your novel. (This is a sequel piece to my 3-minute How To Write A Novel.)
