EPISODE 235 - Video Nasties Update

Horroretc Podcast show

Summary: It's a return to the infamous Video Nasties this week. Some time back a bold declaration was made to carry out a plan to watch the entire list of 72 "Nasties" as an extended marathon. Our promised Bergman spotlight was postponed as a result of unexpected schedule conflicts so we took the opportunity to share our thoughts on a variety of titles we have been catching along the way. Entries include Death Trap (the correct version of Eaten Alive this time), Don't Go In The Woods, Andy Warhol's Flesh For Frankenstein, Forest of Fear (aka Toxic Zombies), Night of the Bloody Apes, Possession, and of course The Werewolf and the Yeti. Along the way we also spend time looking at some oft-discussed entries in the context of what made them nasty (such as Evil Dead, I Spit on Your Grave, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, etc). It's a long road but there is definite progress as we near the halfway point of the list. Some non-nasty movies were covered as well to help round out the menu such as the recent UK thriller A Lonely Place to Die, the purely Canadian hockey flick Goon, and a long overdue discussion of Martyrs and the debate over ambiguity in film endings. Toss in Wrestlemaniac, Hostel 3 and a conversation about whether Bigfoot really exists and youâ??ve got yourself an episode.
