Brannon Howse: Aired January 23, 2013

Worldview Matters show

Summary: Brannon’s guest is Dr. John Whitcomb for “Ask Dr. John”. Topic: How and when were the angels created? Topic: Why would God create the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil? Was this tree created to be a food source for Lucifer? Why would God create a tree that has the power to corrupt human beings, thus cursing the entire universe? Topic: I have heard that Job was the first book of the Bible written. How do theologians know that Job was written before Moses' time, and how do they know that Moses wrote Genesis through Deuteronomy? Are there other interesting facts about the writing of the book of Job and the writings of Moses? Topic: I want to know what the Bible says about Calvinism. We do not want to go back to the Reformation but to God’s Word. I believe Calvinism is imposed on the Bible. Am I wrong? Topic: Is salvation a free gift, in that all we have to do is believe on the Lord Jesus, or must we also deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him in order to be saved? Topic: Will God always forgive a person no matter how bad the sin is? Topic: Some Christians say that when Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom (i.e., Matt. 4:23), He was preaching a spiritual kingdom. Others say that He was offering to the Jewish nation a political, earthly kingdom as covenanted in the Old Testament and prophesied by the Hebrew prophets. What is your view on this? Topic: Can a believer lose his love for Christ? Topic: You mentioned that the 144,000 will evangelize the world during the last three-and-half years of the tribulation. As I was reading Revelation 13, I came across verse 8, which mentions that if anyone's name is not in the book of life he will worship the beast. This seems to contradict the 144,000 evangelizing during this period. Topic: Can you explain how the martyrs in the fifth seal will not know that their blood is being avenged if the rapture will have already occurred (cf. Rev. 6:9-11)?
