While raising a family she worked for thirty years in various positions at the University of Otago, gaining a BA as a mature student in Classical Studies. In her late fifties, she began writing stories and articles, which have been published in dutch and New Zealand publications and her short stories have been broadcasted on Radio New Zealand National. In this episode, she discusses how she took the decision of undergoing the transition and her volunteer work with the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival where she helps in preparing lanterns for the show.
