Doctor Who: Prepare the Timelash!!

"Prepare The Timelash!!" hits a milestone this month as Ken & Mike reach the end of Season 22 with "Revelation of the Daleks", its final story! Is it a good story? Yes. Is it a good Doctor Who story ...? Well, that's a different discussion. Also discussed in this month's episode are the amazing number of double acts in this story, the brilliance of Davros, and the traveling Doctor Who Celebration exhibit that criss-crossed the US back in the Eighties, (Yes, we're old.) Also, Jobel? BACK OFF. Yeeesh.

We get to our namesake this month - "Timelash"! - and well, to be honest, it's more of a lament than a celebration. It's a story that just has a LOT of problems. But still, Ken & Mike try to find the silver linings in "Timelash" as they discuss Paul Darrow's hammy performance as Tekker, the puzzling and relentless Third Doctor references, and the complete confounding idiocy of Herbert, a.k.a. Oh, my giddy aunt! It's a jam-packed episode of "Prepare The Timelash!!" this month as Ken & Mike delve into the sprawling monstrosity known as "The Two Doctors"! Among many other things, they discuss Season 6B, Dastari's sartorial style, the disappointing use of the Sontarans, and how good the food must be at Las Cadenas, considering that everyone keeps eating after the maître d' gets murdered. Oh, and the Second Doctor & Jamie as well. Phew! It's a dark tale, but is it a good one? Have a listen!

In a very special "Prepare the Timelash", Ken & Mike look at "A Fix With Sontarans", where the Sixth Doctor, Tegan(!), & eight year-old Gareth Jenkins team up to fight a pair of angry Sontarans who've gotten aboard the TARDIS somehow, and learn a very important and valuable lesson about ... well, they don't learn anything, actually. But it's fun. And silly. And just a teensy bit violent.   

This month, we talk about video nasties, a rather infamous acid bath, and how everyone on Varos failed Economics 101 as we delve into "Vengeance on Varos!" Also, does this story parody the glorification of violence, or does it just outright glorify violence instead? This month, Ken & Mike talk about "Attack of the Cybermen", in which the Cybermen ... don't actually do a lot of attacking? Presumably, that's due to their lack of a coherent plan. Also, there's Lytton, Most Awesomest Mercenary in the Galaxy. Oh, and these two side characters called the Doctor and Peri, who manage to get in some great lines every once in a while. With a script surreptitiously penned by Eric Saward, though, you were expecting something else?

We kick off our look at the Sixth Doctor's televised stories with "The Twin Dilemma", in which the newly-regenerated Doctor ... tries to strangle his companion Peri? Oh boy. NOT. GOOD. That being said, there's some good things (Azmael!) and not-so-good (the twins!) for Mike and Ken to talk about. Also, why slug people? WHY???
