 SequelQuest Rewind | A Super Mario Brothers Sequel | EP79 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:20:37

(From June 2018)Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros is the most iconic video game franchise in history, so of course a Super Mario Bros live action film starring Mario and Luigi made sense to movie studios in 1993. Unfortunately the grimy wasteland inhabited by Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper on the silver screen bore very little resemblance to the colorful fantasy world we saw on our television sets at home. The film has lived in infamy for 25 years as many more video game movies have come and gone,  but no further live action forays into the world of the Super Mario Bros have ever been discussed…until now. Join Adam, Jeramy and returning guest, Colin as they share their stories of gaming with Mario in the 80’s and 90’s, their first time seeing Super Mario Bros in movie theaters and ultimately begin pitching their wild ideas for a Super Mario Bros movie sequel. Will the gritty cinematic vision of Dinohattan return along with some amped up violence in the mushroom kingdom? Or will the crew work to bring the film back in line with the imagination of gamers everywhere to create a worthy quest for these video game heroes?Listen now and find out how Super Mario Bros 2 takes shape in the world of imagination known as SequelQuest.   SequelQuest Rewind | A Super Mario Brothers Sequel | EP79Stream our SequelQuest Back Catalogue from the links below or find the show on the NEW TRN Feed on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, Podbean, SoundCloud and more.SequelQuest Back Catalogue:NEW!  The House Show 015 - WWF In Your House: Canadian Stampede | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:44:57

This is one of the big ones, fans. From the inception of this series your hosts and fellow listeners anxiously awaited discussing the WWF In Your House: Canadian Stampede pay per view event. Arguably the hottest crowd in WWF history. Reactions so loud they literally, not figuratively, shake the building. At the height of WWF's Hart Foundation vs the United States feud this event is held north of the border. Taking place July 6, 1997 from the Canadian Airlines Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in front of over 12,000 of the most passionate fans you'll ever hear.Bret Hart returned to the WWF and found a changed landscape. Fans were behind a foul mouthed rebel by the name of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Bret blamed the disrespectful bloodthirsty culture of America. In one of the most creative ideas in wrestling history Bret and the rest of the Hart Foundation were the biggest villains in the United States and cheered as heroes in every other country. In other action, two future world champions battle it out. The WWF begins to toy with a light heavyweight division to counter WCW's cruiserweights. The Undertaker's original challenger for tonight's World title match is injured, so who do they call as a replacement? All this wrestling talk plus the opinions and stories you've come to know and love from your hosts. Wrestling related face mask talk. A tale of public urination. Cowboy hats! Who is Mrs. Calgary? Detailing the events behind tonight's light heavyweight and World title matches. We discuss our favorite Farmer's Daughter songs. Finally, the Educator singles out a member of the Hart family.WWF In Your House: Canadian Stampede matches include:Hunter Hearst Helmsley (with Chyna) vs. Mankind.Taka Michinoku vs. the Great Sasuke. The Undertaker (World champion) vs. Vader (with Paul Bearer). The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Owen Hart, the British Bulldog, Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart, and Brian Pillman) vs. Ken Shamrock, Goldust, the Legion of Doom, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Retro Network’s own Kevin Decent (@MaskedLibrary) along with his two best friends “Sweet” Matty Treats (@MattyTreats) and Matt “the Educator of Excellence” are revisiting the WWF’s In Your House pay per view events over the course of the worldwide quarantine.  The House Show 014 - WWF In Your House 'Revenge of the Taker' AND 'A Cold Day in Hell' | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:58:38

That's right, two shows will be discussed today! It's a "Double Hebner!"Du-plex Ci-ty! Clap clap clapclapclap! These two shows flow together so well that we finished talking about In Your House 14 and continued into the 15th installment. We didn't want to tell you all about the set up that takes place on 'Revenge of the Taker' and make our listeners wait a week for the pay off at 'A Cold Day in Hell.' Plus, take a look at these two events on the WWE Network. The graphics are exactly the same, only the dates have changed.Revenge of the 'Taker takes place on  April 20, 1997 at the Rochester Community War Memorial in Rochester, NY in front of nearly 6,500 fans. Steve Austin is about to become the hottest thing in all of professional wrestling. A month earlier at WrestleMania 13 was the infamous double turn in which Austin became a face and Bret Hart turned into WWF's biggest heel. The Hart Foundation is here hating America while simultaneously beloved in Canada and other countries. Some of the Attitude Era's biggest stars are here, just before breaking through.Tonight's matches include:The Legion of Doom vs. Owen Hart and the British Bulldog (WWF Tag Team champions).Savio Vega (with the Nation of Domination) vs. Rocky Maivia (Intercontinental champion).Jesse James vs Rockabilly (with the Honky Tonk Man). The Undertaker (WWF champion) vs. Mankind (with Paul Bearer)."Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart to determine the #1 Contender to the WWF title.Spoiler alert. Austin wins that match.Which brings us to the second feature, In Your House 15: 'A Cold Day in Hell.' This event is held May 11, 1997, at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, VA in front of over 9,000 fans. WWF is heating up and the talent who will help them win the Monday Night Wars is here. It is amazing to see so many future WWF champions on this card. Back when none of us could have imagined what these Superstars were about to do and the amazing careers that lay before them.Tonight's matches for the second part of the show include:Hunter Hearst Helmsley (with Chyna) vs. Flash Funk.Mankind vs. Rocky Maivia. The Nation of Domination members Faarooq, Crush, and Savio Vega (with Clarence Mason, PG-13, and D'Lo Brown) vs. Ahmed Johnson in a Gauntlet match.Ken Shamrock vs. Vader in a No Holds Barred match. The Undertaker (WWF champion) vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.  Your hosts discuss these matches and so much more. Shazam! Watching The Rock try to escape from Rocky Maivia. Where does Savio Vega reside? Door banners! Hype central! Bret "Crybaby" Hart. Then on part 2 we wonder if the Chyna gimmick would work today. Fantasy booking a better version of the Nation of Domination. All this talk plus two matches that surprised us.Contact The House Show across social media! Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.  The House Show 013 - WWF In Your House 13: Final Four | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:48:23

Set right in between the 1997 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 13 came one of the most important editions of the In Your House series. This event took place February 16, 1997 at the UTC Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee in front of just over 6,000 fans who were guaranteed to see a new WWF champion crowned. This is a crazy set up so buckle up. The Royal Rumble saw a controversial finish. Steve Austin was eliminated but the referees didn't see it. He came back in and eliminated Vader, the Undertaker, and Bret Hart thus winning the Rumble. The plan all along was to have these four men face off again at In Your House: Final Four to decide a definitive winner who would then go on to face the WWF champion (Shawn Michaels) at WrestleMania 13.The problem was, Shawn Michaels didn't want to lose his title to Bret Hart. I mean, Shawn had a knee injury. I mean, Shawn "lost his smile". No matter what the truth was the fact is Shawn Michaels gave up the WWF title three days before this pay per view at Thursday Raw Thursday Live. This four way match that was meant to crown a new #1 contender is now for the vacant WWF title. We go over all of this on the podcast and so much more. Hot Pokemon talk. Matty Treats introduces us to the world of car sushi. We ask what kind of person Shawn Michaels was back in 1997. We discuss sending money via Western Union. One of the biggest WWF debuts of all time as "Funky Gold Gunn" shows up. This is then overshadowed by the debut of Chyna! We follow all of this up with the biggest top 5 debate in show history.Tonight's card includes:Marc Mero (with Sable) vs. Leif Cassidy. The Nation of Domination - Faarooq, Crush, and Savio Vega - accompanied by PG-13, D-Lo Brown, and Clarence Mason vs. Bart Gunn, Flash Funk, and Goldust (with Marlena).Rocky Maivia (Intercontinental champion) vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley.Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon vs. Owen Hart and British Bulldog (WWF Tag Team champions) - with Clarence Mason.Vader vs. Undertaker vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart in an elimination match for the WWF title. The improvisational music game Situation Jukebox returns with TRN Staff members choosing songs in response to specific situations. The returning champion Tim (@oldschool80s) is back to defend his Hero status against four other competitors.
