As we feel the temperatures begin to dip on Cape Cod, we start to think about fall. With this in mind, we talk to Heritage’s senior gardener, Laura Swain, in this week’s podcast. She gives us an overview of what visitors can expect to see in the gardens at Heritage Museums & Gardens during the months of September and October.

September is just around the corner – which for many children around the nation means school is about to be in session. In today’s podcast, we speak with Melissa Russell, Heritage’s Director of The Hundred Acre School about the upcoming school year at our school. Melissa also shares some pointers and tips on how to know if your youngster is ready for Preschool.

This week, gardeners from 17 Cape Cod and South Shore garden clubs will transform Heritage Museums & Gardens’ Heald Center into a botanical wonderland for a “Celebrating Heritage!” flower show. Heritage Museums & Gardens preschool, The Hundred Acre School, just had their last day of class on Friday. The tract of land now known as Heritage Museums & Gardens played an important role in the history of the town of Sandwich. In 1677, Lydia Wing Hamilton Abbott was the first resident to live on the land. Since that time there have been a lot of positive changes. This week on The Insider at Heritage Museums & Gardens, our weekly podcast series, we speak with Amanda Wastrom, Heritage’s Assistant Curator, on our outdoor art exhibit “Human | Nature”. Heritage Museums & Gardens invited five artists to install outdoor sculptures throughout the museum grounds and gardens. Each of the artists will install their works in a different month of the summer season (May – September). Each artwork explores how humans and nature coexist, interact, and overlap.
