Do "Unmotivated Patients" Really Exist?? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:26:45

Dosing Exercise For Osteoarthritis | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:21:28

There has been a great movement to better understand and apply exercise patients. Strength and conditioning principles are important to understand when we are dosing exercise to meet the specific performance goals of our patients Dosing for performance and dosing for pain are two different concepts How do Jarod and Mark approach that in clinic? How can we find the best dose for the unique person in front of us? Join Mark and Jarod as they discuss this and more on this week's episode of the Modern Pain Podcast Related Resources: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31536554 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24662498 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29664187/

Prescribing Exercise Across the Continuum | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:31:56

I think we can all agree that we were not prepared well to prescribe exercise in school We often are so focused on getting people to "discharge" we miss a huge opportunity to have a bigger impact on a person's health How many of us could write out exercise programming for the household athlete all the way to the fitness athlete? Join Mark with special guests CJ DePalma and Joe Camoratto as they discuss their new program Across the Continuum. We are excited to have them join the Modern Pain Care team and can't wait to see the impact they will have on many practices.  What to Do with Lateral Shifts? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:20:12

Lateral shifts are a common clinical presentation that can respond to specific treatment Louis Gifford had public criticisms of the push to correct a lateral shift due to the thoughts it was an adaptive response early on. Some still recommend these are dealt with immediately and there is little time to consider this adaptive and for it to be left alone. So what do we do? When may it be adaptive and best left alone? When may "correcting" the shift be the best choice? Tune in to this week's episode of the Modern Pain Podcast and find out.  Understanding Clinical Prediction Rules for Lumbar Manipulation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:31:21

You learned about them. You studied them. You were tested on them. But the real question is, how important are they to use? Clinical prediction rules (CPRs) were developed using multivariate statistical methods to help clinicians select particular interventions to use depending on a cluster of findings a patient presented with. Given the black and white matter of how the CPRs were created, this allowed for the opportunity to write a lot of test questions whether it was the NPTE or the OCS exam. However, as many practicing clinicians know, the clinic is not black and white and we cannot always shoehorn patients into classifications or rules. So what do we do instead? Listen in as Jarod and Mark discuss this on this week's episode of the Modern Pain Podcast

Dosing Principles for Neurodynamics | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:29:47

If you read studies often we are left with 3 sets of 10 reps or 3 sets of 30 seconds as what we have to go on for rep schemes around dosing. Does that best meet the individual in front of you? How can we dose things specific to the needs of the person in front of you? Join Jarod and Mark as they discuss this and more on this week's episode of the Modern Pain Podcast
