Summers Off

After all that Goonies conflict we are back to oozing love for one of the best TV shows of all time.  Hear where Friday Night Lights sits on our host's all time faves list this week with an extra long final "quarantine edition" episode. We discuss the humble origins of much of the cast, the improv style of the show, awkward romantic scenes, why the show is so awesome, and most importantly which cast member is the hottest.

Fireworks on this week's episode.  A beloved film to one of our hosts that means little to the other.  It's a brawl we haven't seen since Mortal Kombat. We have stories of contagious puking, Rach's secluded childhood, a Chunk who hated truffling and shuffling, bratty kids, bloody maps, real human skulls, and even more real waterslides.

This weeks movie is like watching actual baseball but fun! We talk about Geena Davis maybe being a genius, why Tom Hanks gained 30 lbs, who had the baseball skills and who was horrible, and what a punk Madonna is on-camera and off. Ty's experience as a baseball stud, Rach's favorite phrase "the pickle tickle", and Ty continuing to butcher quotes make this a fun one for the ages.

We sink back into the madness that was late 90s teen flicks.  It was a joyous time when a movie can take place all in one location with the coolest house party ever! Ty and Rach sit on opposite sides of the spectrum on this one.  Ty's undying love for fatalities, epic fight scenes, four armed monsters, and sexy Sonya ring out, while Rach tries to keep all these names straight and figure out if there's a plot. And did I mention for the first time in Summers Off history, RACH FELL ASLEEP!

This week we journey back to the golden age of teen movies... 1999. Possibly one of the most problematic romantic comedies of all time, Never Been Kissed packs a wallop. Listen as Ty tells Rach what he thought the movie was about, how he was grossly mistaken, and how he can relate to "Josie Grossie". Does the pedophilic teacher shoot sex lasers from his eyes?  What were our two hosts first kisses like?  Have either of them ever hit on their teachers before?  All will be revealed to you this week.

With the school year just around the corner, Ty and Rach decide to revisit a much loved film: Moulin Rouge. A saucy Nicole Kidman and babyface Ewan McGregor are definitely worth a rewatch. It's a bit of a love-fest but let's face it... All you need is love! Talking points this week: Is the Duke hot or not? Is Nicole Kidman too pale? Does Ewan McGregor have extra teeth? And who is Qui-Gon Jim?  Tune in to solve these mysteries and more!

No Michael Myers to be seen.  Instead we get magic, robots, Stonehenge, and all other sorts of fun.  This is Halloween 3. Discussion topics today include how to kill a robot, "no-nipple" clauses, the greatest love story of our parent's generation, sweet deaths, and who is the scariest of the major horror movie villains. Did Rach cry herself to sleep?  Is she still terrified?  Has she seen robots everywhere since watching this movie?  Come find out. 

We get British this week.  Our dive into the isles takes us to Notting Hill. Hear Ty plug Shakespeare in Love a zillion times, Rach try her best to look, act, and sound like Julia Roberts, and Ty and Rach go through the pantheon of Julia's rom coms and rank them. We debate is this movie funny or not and should Hugh and Julie even end up together at the end?  Hearts will hurt, folks will be offended, and Ty and Rach continue their path towards making Summers Off "Minnesota Real".

It's Rach Time!  We watch a Rach classic and the arguments start flying.  Is this the best movie of all time?  Is Anne Hathaway the worst in this movie?  Should Meryl win so many Oscars? We debate Streep being the best ever, Mrs. Tom Brady vs. Gisele, Adam Sandler vs. Scarlett Johannson, and gaining some love weight for a role.  Half this movie goes over Ty's head because he known nothing about fashion and at the end of the day we all learn how to spell Gabanna...I mean Gabbana. Whatever.

Uh oh!  This was a doozy.  Maybe the worst film we have done so far but come check out our reactions to this travesty and learn some fun stuff along the way.  Don't watch Ladybugs and instead come hang with us for an hour. We talk about teen heartthrob Jonathan Brandis and how he stacks up on Rach's hot guy list, creepy Rodney Dangerfield, Rappin Rodney, and how Rach's soccer days were almost an exact replica of this movie. We're back!!!!  We kick off season 2 with this wonderful 80s romp through a high school experience everyone can relate to: When you realize all that unwanted body hair is due to you being a werewolf. Hear Ty and Rach tell "Seven minutes in Heaven" stories, settle the age old debate of Team Jacob vs. Team Edward, and talk about Michael J's hotness, shortness, lack of dance skills, and terrible free throws.  Plus hear how this may be the Kobe Bryant story.
