Allow us to be blunt – anti-vaxxers are wrong, have never been right and have been following the advice of dopey celebrities and debunked “research” for far too long. This week, parents whose children are patients at the Brooklyn Heights pediatric practice of Doctors O’Connor, Pytlak and Dalton were told that families who refuse to […]
The new Eamonn’s, which replaced Taperia virtually overnight two weeks ago, has added an interesting feature — blacked out windows. What the what? Here’s what Eamonn’s with clear windows looked like: Maybe it’s the fact that we remember the bad ol’ days when a place with blacked out glass like this meant something other than […]

But without proactive measures, our district will continue staggering from crisis to crisis. As we've seen with our libraries, hospitals, flood preparedness, and environmental issues (e.g., Newtown Creek and the Gowanus Canal), ignoring simmering problems doesn't prevent them from boiling.
This dispatch from BHB contributor Teresa Genaro via Open Thread Wednesday: The huge, long-vacated space on the northeast corner of Clark and Hicks — was a pizza place for a while, was rumored to be a Tea Lounge at one point — is undergoing a complete renovation and will be the sales office for the [...]
Buzzhome has uncovered renderings for the new development planned for 172-174 Montague Street. It will replace buildings housing the now closed Eamonn’s and Hallmark store. Since it sits outside the Brooklyn Heights Historic District, the new structure will be 19 stories, higher than the 50 feet allowed inside the district. CPEX’s full listing is here. [...]
Take the R train to work? Get ready to shout to the heaven and say “NOOOOOO”. (Or if you’re a Star Trek TOS movie fan “KHAAAAANNNNN!”). Reports say the the Montague Street tunnel, damaged in Superstorm Sandy, will be closed for repairs for about a year: NYT: The repairs, expected to begin in August, would [...]
The NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission posted photos and a document related to the 1965 landmarking of Brooklyn Heights on its Tumblr account this week. View the photos on the LPC’s Tumblr. Our neighborhood was landmarked on November 25, 1965. In 2010, Brooklyn Heights preservationist and our own Karl Junkersfeld produced this video about the road [...]

Patricia Ageheim & Tarek Debira owers since April of Chez Moi (located at the space formerly known as La Mancha) wrote BHB to reassure our readers that La Mancha’s Atlantic Antic culinary stand-bys of grilled sardines and paella will survive the change of restaurant and nationality!
