 #19 | Fear Factor | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:42

Fear. We usually associate that word with the intense emotion of being scared. However, there is a much more subtle way that fear manifests itself in our lives. And that is through the fear of man. This week, we discuss what the fear of man is, how it impacts our lives and what we can do to replace that fear with a healthier fear.  Notable Moments: - What is fear of man:  Finding comfort and security in the thoughts, actions or words of others. It shows itself when we make decisions based on what others might think, say or do.  - "The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe" - Proverbs 29:25 - Fear of man is not based in reality. It is based on what we project on other people.  - There is a difference between being a peacemaker and a peacekeeper. We are called to be peacemakers, not peacekeepers. Sometimes making peace means having hard conversations and making difficult decisions.  - What to do about it: 1. Recognize- Take a look at your life and be honest about the areas that are controlled by the fear of man.  2. Replace- Replace your fear of man with the fear of God. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." - Proverbs 9:10  The fear of man is crippling, but the fear of God is motivating. When we fear God, we love and serve Him wholeheartedly from a place of freedom.
