Loyal listener Ethan Smith sent a message asking for more episodes, so here we go. Answers to Ethan's questions. We are on a month-long trip to Washington and back, with lots of time spent in the mountains of Idaho and Montana. This episode was recorded while we were camped at Hoodoo Lake at Elk Summit campground, in the Clearwater National Forest.
TTT Ep 044 Moose in Alaska and deer in Wisconsin with Rob
A fun email from listener Nick B in Illinois inspired Larre to get back in to the mic and share memories of his early deer hunts. He also tells highlights from his "second annual" snow goose hunt. Our new publishing schedule depends on you! When we get an email, Larre will sit down to record his reactions and memories brought to mind by your story. Send your stories and a recommendation for a favorite park to: mail@talltalesandtravel.com or from our website: https://www.talltalesandtravel.com/about-us/
The cold snap kept Larre off the ice for a while, but he gives an update on his ice fishing successes. Then he tells about an August hunt on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula with his brother Tuck. They were after sheep and goats, but that's not what they went home with. Send us your comments, questions or stories to mail@talltalesandtravel.com
Larre has survived his recent ice fishing excursions onto the barely-frozen lakes of Minnesota. Today he tells about a deer hunting trip where he did not bag the largest buck, but will take credit for it anyway.
Larre went moose hunting with his brother and 5 boys age 10 and under. The moose stalk was not the most exciting part of the trip. A life-threatening ATV accident and lost treasure were the most memorable events. Send your comments and questions to mail@talltalesandtravel.com
TTT Ep 039 Larre's Back! Deer, Ducks and Driving the Alcan Again
Larre recounts exploring on and under the glacier, encountering mountain goats and other wildlife, and surviving life-threatening weather.
Larre, Tuck and 5 boys under the age of 9 hiked up a glacier to see what they could see. And all that they could see was a record-size black bear. Armed with 5 bb guns, one rifle with no ammunition and one rifle with ammunition, the intrepid hunters took on the challenge. Larre also describes his procedures for making European mounts, and an email from loyal listener Jim in British Columbia reminds Larre that it's September and he is not hunting.
Hunting with brother Tuck and friend Dan, Larre had an excruciating experience while the others bagged a ram. Larre also shares how he cooks wild game and fish, including his top-secret fish recipe.
Larre and his brother Tuck flew from Kodiak out to Afognak Island near the Shelikov Straits for a 10-day hunt at the end of April. They wanted to stay in a Forest Service cabin, but the float plane had to put them ashore 10 miles away, because the bay was iced in. They also encountered blizzard conditions while hiking. This was the easy part.
