Disturbia was number one at the box office again by default, while two other thrillers, Fracture and Vacancy had disappointing openings. Also opening were Hot Fuzz and In the Land of Women. Next week Next should dominate among new releases, including Condemned, The Invisible and Kickin' It Old Skool.
Disturbia emerged as the clear winner among six new wide releases this weekend. The other openers, Perfect Stranger, Pathfinder, Redline, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Slow Burn failed to find much of an audience. Also, 300 passed the $200 million mark, Wild Hogs continues to do well and Grindhouse dropped hard in its second weekend. Next weeked two thrillers, Fracture and Vacancy, go head-to-head and Hot Fuzz and In the Land of Women also open.
Grindhouse disappointed at the box office with only $11.6 million while Blades of Glory and Meet the Robinsons stayed at the top of the charts. Also opening were Are We Done Yet?, The Reaping, Firehouse Dog and The Hoax. Next week at least six new movies enter wide release.
Blades of Glory takes the weekend gold while Meet the Robinsons earns a respectable silver. Also opening this weekend was The Lookout plus a look at next weekend's openings over the Easter Holiday, including Are We Done Yet?, Firehouse Dog, The Reaping, Grindhouse and The Hoax.
TMNT tops the box office this weekend. Shooter, The Last Mimzy, The Hills Have Eyes 2, Reign Over Me and Pride also open, plus a look at next weekend's releases.
300 held the top spot and Wild Hogs continued to perform well. Premonition with Sandra Bullock was the strongest of the new releases, opening against Dead Silence and Chris Rock in I Think I Love My Wife. Next week six new movies hit theaters including TMNT and Shooter.

The Messengers and Because I Said So open against the Super Bowl, plus a look at the Super Bowl movie ads and the continuing Oscar season. Next weekend Hannibal Rising and Norbit open.
Epic Movie, Smokin' Aces, Catch and Release and Blood and Chocolate open this weekend, plus a look the Academy Award nominations and the Oscar box office effect. In addition, next weekend two movies dare to open against the Super Bowl.
Stomp the Yard and Night at the Museum topped the box office, while The Hitcher opened in fourth place. Also, a look at various Academy Award contenders and movies opening next week.
