Biz Women Rock

Well, my dear...here we are.  At the end.   Today’s episode is the last of the Biz Women Rock podcast.  To celebrate, Chris (my hubs) is interviewing me.   I want to leave you with this… Everything I created for you all these years has been because I have needed it.  The inspiration, the motivation, the organization, the leadership, the cheerleading, the support...I have needed it all.  And I knew that by creating it for you, I would be forced to step into it for myself. 

Oh, the divine timing of my very last interview on the Biz Women Rock podcast...Cathy Heller is my guest and our conversation is the most beautiful music of harmony, strategy and purpose.   Cathy is the creator of Don’t Keep Your Day Job, a very successful podcast whose guests include Seth Godin, Mandy Moore, Barbara Corcoran and Gabby Bernstein, just to name a few.  Just a few weeks ago, Cathy released her book, Don’t Keep Your Day Job and in just one week, it sold 10,000 copies.

In October 2019, I was invited to be the Keynote Presenter at the very first ever She Podcasts Live Conference. I chose to share my own podcasting journey to showcase just how imperfect, meandering and REAL each of our business journeys are.  I share about the beginning of Biz Women Rock and how the podcast I launched back in 2014 gave birth to an entire, robust business for me.  And, how in 2018, when we found out we were pregnant with our second baby, everything changed.

When I saw Jen Mavros’ video announcing she was leaving her old business behind and stepping into a new business, I obviously could relate.  Jen has been helping entrepreneurs manifest soulfully aligned desires and dreams in life and business for 7 years now as a coach and mentor, speaker and leader.  But a few years ago...she began questioning, feeling and ultimately...listening. Which has led her to an entirely new business, the first iteration of which is called Loving Business Forward.

When I think of “podcasting,” I think of Jessica Kupferman.  She’s someone who has experienced the industry is such a variety of ways...as a podcaster herself, as someone who owned a business selling advertising on podcasts and as the leader and co-founder of She Podcasts, a community of over 14,000 women podcasters.   So it made perfect sense to invite Jessica on the show for this podcasting series as I pay tribute to this incredible platform that has allowed me into your life all these years.

We’re continuing the PODCASTING SERIES today with the incredible Jaime Legagneur (pronounced “Jemmy”).  I had the pleasure of meeting Jaime in a peculiar and memorable way at Podfest 2017, catching her in a pivotal moment of her podcasting and business career.   Today, she’s sharing about all the places that podcasting has taken her these past few years...all the surprising, unplanned and soul nourishing things that have blossomed for her. 

Kicking off the PODCASTING SERIES today is the fabulous Tina Conroy of The Intuitive Woman Podcast.  I’ve had the privilege of walking beside Tina on her podcasting journey the past few years as her coach and mastermind leader and I can tell you that she’s one of the most dedicated podcasters I’ve ever met. 

When Nicole Cruz came to me, it became apparent that she wanted to build a business so she could put herself out of business.   Let me explain.   Nicole is a registered dietician and for 10 years, she’s been seeing clients one on one - mostly young girls and teenagers who have eating disorders or disordered eating and who want to heal their relationship with body and food.  

When Ashley Kitchens began working with me as a private client, she only knew one thing: she loved sharing with people about plant-based eating and wanted to reach more people.  She didn’t know what that would look like as a business, but she did have about 5,000 people following her on Instagram.   Over the year, Ashley has bravely taken baby (and sometimes GIANT) steps into her greatness!  And during this conversation, she shares about the evolution of her online business model from zero to now!

Today’s episode is sharing THE REAL behind the scenes reasons why Biz Women Rock is going on sabbatical.  The podcast, the business and the private Facebook Group...they’re all getting archived on December 2, 2019.  Perhaps this is a shocker for you and you’re wondering, whaaaat?!  Why???!  Or, perhaps you’ve seen it coming.

Sex.  Intimacy.  Play.  Creativity.  They are all incredibly important parts of who we are as women.  And yet, sometimes as we walk along this crazy business journey, we can forget that these parts of ourselves need nourishment.  We get caught up in the to-do’s, launches, stresses and strategies of business growth that we can become a bit disconnected to the sexual beings that we are.  

Are you a good connector?  A good networker? Are you the woman who everyone comes to when she’s looking for a resource and you easily pull a name out of your hat to help?   That’s Brook Emery too.  And, unlike many of us who might have struggled to “monetize” our connecting gifts, Brooke has done so very well.  As a matter of fact, she is the “go-to gal” for many online business owners.  

When Chrissie Wywrot sets her mind to do something...she does it.  And does it big.  As a young woman, she knew she wanted to work for the NFL.  And sure enough, she ended up doing the social media marketing for the Detroit Lions, a super sweet gig where she was able to be on the forefront of big brands being on social media.  So...she learned a lot.  

You’ve heard that video is a must for marketing your business.  You’ve heard that it’s a great way to help you attract the ideal person you help with your products or services.  But it feels like a lot of work! And, if you currently are doing video, maybe you’re feeling like your videos aren’t making the marketing impact you want them to make.   So what do you do?  

Within the first year of launching her podcast, Mind Love, Melissa Monte had 1 million downloads.  This is not the norm...and neither is she.  Which I am convinced is exactly why she has had such success.   During our conversation, Melissa walks us through how she started, launched and grew her podcast by thinking outside the box.   First, she got clear about who she was, her passions and her gifts...a step that we can easily skip over because it requires us to STOP and do the internal work.
