How To Thrive As An Adult After Childhood Trauma – K Expert (Video) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 8:30

As adult thrivers of early childhood traumas, we want to look to see how are we doing in our lives now. K Expert, Lisa Cypers Kamen is an international happiness Expert, a Positive Psychology Coach, Speaker and Author. We are talking about what happens when you go through some kind of trauma, particularly in your formative years that changes your life. Trauma that changes how we see the world are life interrupting occurrences that change the the way we see the world as children. The security and safety that we've been promised by our parents and society are ripped from beneath us and we are left with terrible insecurities, pain, fear, trauma and it does effect the course of our lives. How do we deal with these issues and how do you know if you are stuck in one of these unhealthy mind sets? Lisa tells us that the great thing about children is that they are very resilient. They move on and are able to construct their lives and not be defined by that story. What often happens with children of trauma are often not apologized to, so they are left without closure. Sometimes children don't mention the abuses against them. It's very important that we share our stories of pain so that we can begin to process some level of closure for yourself. To live a thriving and flourishing life, one needs to communicate what has gone on in some way to restore joy in their life. When you remove the guilt/shame from a "dirty little secret", it becomes your pretty little secret that can help heal another. Have you shared your story w/someone? Did it help you and them? It is essential to unburden yourself in some way. Perhaps a Pastor, therapist or peer group can help. Be careful about protecting yourself. Find those safe havens were you can start dialoging and create some sort of safety and community to share the experience. Chappale Burton, a guest on Kirsty TV went through childhood trauma and abuse which lead him on a journey of forgiveness as he grew into adolescence. He for example, literally started to consider why his offenders hurt him. He understood empathy was a tool he could use to understand forgiveness.  How To Forgive Someone Who’s Hurt Us – Kouch Time On Kirsty TV (Video) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5:06

How do I forgive someone who has hurt me so much? We all have asked ourselves that and want to know how we can move through those hard times and life altering events? Kirsty and friends discuss how to forgive when it's hard. Sometimes intervention and counseling is essential, because there a need to form a new sense of security. Forgiveness is also key. Lisa tells us, "The forgiveness first has to be against the person that perpetrated these awful acts. It's hard understand the concept that once we release the forgiveness for our own judgements, it's easier to release the other person. We're not letting the person off the hook. We don't forget. We're deciding the be healthier and happier and in order to do that, we need to forgive." Chappale Burton, a guest on Kirsty TV went through childhood trauma and abuse which lead him on a journey of forgiveness as he grew into adolescence. He for example, literally started to consider why his offenders hurt him. He understood empathy was a tool he could use to understand forgiveness.  Shark Attack Survivor Paul de Gelder Talks About How There Was ‘No Time For Fear’ | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:46

Paul de Gelder a drug dealer, turned Navy Clearance Diver lived through a horrific shark attack. He talks about how there was no time for fear during the attack and had to make split second choices. It's the choices in life that determine our happiness and it started pretty early on for Paul when he made some pretty bad choices leading him to be homeless at times. He encourages people to make better choices, the scary ones usually being the better choices to make. Paul says that if you are not happy, it will take some drastic changes to change your life. The things that he remembers most about his life are the scariest ones and the greatest things he's done. Paul's shark attack story starts when he left the Australian Army to join the Navy Clearance Team. He was at the Sydney Harbor, working on a counter terrorism exercise, in the water when he felt a huge whack on his leg. He was face to face with the shark, making eye contact when he realized that the shark had both his right leg and arm. He struggled with the shark in excruciating pain while it shook him like a rag doll. In his mind he thought he was going to die until he felt free from the shark. Having been through so much struggle through his life gave him the resilience that he needed to survive the shark attack and heal. He accepted his fate and focused on getting better.

Video – Sam Cawthorn On Anything Is Possible! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5:38

When do we stop listening to people and "experts" who tell us that we can't do something? My friend and motivational speaker, Sam Cawthorn has a bionic arm. At age 26, he was in a terrible car accident that took his right arm. After a coma and five months of rehabilitation, he was told he would never walk again, but today he does. Sam shares with us how he decided to stop listening to doctors who told him that he couldn't walk again and wouldn't play the guitar again. He learned that it is our DECISION not our condition. We all make human contact. Even the seemingly smallest connections can really help us in times of need.  For the next few days, be aware of the relationships around you. Make an effort to make more human contact and then count your blessings. Because chances are, you have more relationships in your life than you realize.   You can follow Sam on Twitter at @samcawthorn, on his Facebook page and on his website at www.samcawthorn.com. My friend, the WONDERFUL Sam Cawthorn popped in for a chat and like a smart girl would, I recorded it because he has so many inspirational stories and wisdoms to share. I asked him what brought him through that difficult time and without hesitation he said, “The number one thing for me was relationships.” He went on to explain the power of relationships and how we can use them in times of need.  We all make human contact. Even the seemingly smallest connections can really help us in times of need.  For the next few days, be aware of the relationships around you. Make an effort to make more human contact and then count your blessings.
