Episode 8: John Corcoran on Entrepreneurial Networking Strategies | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:19

Want to network your way out of your day job and into your own business? You NEED to listen to this episode. I'd say there are more actionable tips in this episode than in any episode so far, and it's on one of my favorite topics: networking. I recently connected with John Corcoran, who is a master networker who has turned his ability to connect with people into a series of interesting career moves. He's done everything from politics to law to entrepreneurism, and has used the exact same networking strategies he talks about in this episode to connect with people in practically any industry. We spend a lot of time discussing how to use networking to build a bridge from your day job to your new business, and how to do it even if you're shy, not well-connected now, and don't have a lot of time or money to travel or spend all day on social media. In this episode, you'll learn: Why networking is one of the most powerful (and underused) business strategies around The best places to start networking How to identify the right networking events to attend How to network even if you're shy or introverted How to avoid being "that guy" when it comes to networking The incredibly easy way to get people to love you How to know if you're at the wrong networking event How to network through social media, without wasting hours a day John's 7-step process for networking mastery And much more! If networking is something you know you should be doing but don't know how, PLEASE be sure to listen to this episode. And if you don't know how important networking is, you can't afford to miss it. And if you know how important networking is but don't want to do it anyway, then you're going to be in big trouble ;) I'd love to hear your comments or questions for John in the comment section below! And please consider sharing this with your friends or family if you think it would help them.  Episode 7: Valerie Young on Profiting From Your Passions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:49

This week I'm incredibly excited to welcome career coach, author, and personal mentor of mine, Valerie Young, to the show. She's helped thousands of people figure out how to translate their interests and passions into real income. In some cases it's a full-time income, in other cases it's a healthy side income or multiple streams of income that allow them to live life on their terms. She has an amazing talent for identifying money-making opportunities that people can put into action right away, and in this episode of War on Work she shares lots of tips for figuring out how you could start making a side income or turning your passions into a business that gives you the life you want. This is one of the most advice-driven episodes of War on Work yet, and I think you'll come out of it with all kinds of ideas for identifying the business of your dreams. In this episode, you'll learn: How Valerie got stuck in the "golden handcuffs" of the corporate world The wake up call that led her to totally change course Why asking "What should I be doing with my life?" is the wrong question, and what to ask instead The major traffic source Valerie uses to get exposure and business that most people never think to try How to get your foot in the door with major media and news sources, and the two things they care about Why social media makes media outreach easier than ever How to identify business ideas that will actually make money and meet your lifestyle needs Examples of real people who have started unique lifestyle business, both online and offline Why you don't need to know everything to start a business in a niche The key question to ask to know if there's money in your passion Ways to make money from your passion even if there aren't "buying customers" Why "professional dabbling" is a great first step What to do if you suffer from "impostor syndrome" We cover an amazing amount of ground in this episode, and there's a ton of helpful advice no matter where you are in your exit plan! Valerie is someone I spoke to many times while planning my own exit from the corporate world, and she can help you too. I'd love to hear your thoughts, ideas, or questions for Valerie in the comments.
