Ryan Irelan is the VP of Technology at Happy Cog, a web design and development studio founded in 1999 by Jeffrey Zeldman. Ryan also runs EE Insider, a news blog about the Expression Engine CMS, and Mijingo where he teaches web development, content management & publishing systems and productivity tools through step-by-step screencasts and ebooks.

Wade Foster is the co-founder and CEO of Zapier, a service that automates the Web by tying your favorite Web services together through triggers and actions and effectively saving you time, money and a lot of manual work.

Jacob Schiftan is currently studying for a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. The reason I invited him on the show is that I came across an article of his on The Next Web where he writes about how he went from being a beginner to creating his first iPhone app in just 2 months. Because people always love to hear stories like this - I know I do - that's what we're going to talk about today.

Don is the goto guy for learning how to get the most out of your Mac, iPad and iPhone. His Screencasts Online subscription service provides tutorials on the latest Mac and iOS apps in weekly screencasts. He also publishes a monthly magazine chock full of video tutorials and tips and tricks for the Mac and the iPad which you can subscribe to through Newsstand on your iPad.

James Olander talks about building the Roost, a portable laptop stand that elevates your laptop's screen to eye level. This improves your posture, can reduce neck and back pain and makes using your laptop an overall more ergonomic experience.

Troy Davis founded Papertrail, a web service that lets sysadmins, developers and entrepreneurs comfortably manage logs from servers, apps and cloud services all in one place. He's also (at the time of recording this show) running a Kickstarter for Taco, a web app that lets you see all your tasks from apps like Basecamp, Google Tasks, Zendesk, Github and more in a single, simple interface.

Brett Terpstra works on the plumbing of sites like Engadget, Joystiq and The Unoffical Apple Weblog by day. By night he creates tons of cool apps, scripts and hacks and gives them away for free on his blog. And because that still leaves him with a couple of unused hours every day, he also does his own podcast called Systematic, sells a Mac app for previewing Markdown files called Marked and recently he even wrote a book together with fellow nerd David Sparks.

It was my pleasure to talk to Carla White, a mobile strategist & designer who launched her first iPhone app on a shoestring budget all the way back in 2008. The app's success led to two more apps and the founding of her app agency "Happy Tapper". Most recently she wrote a book about her formula for turning an idea into an app and how you can too.

This week I talked to Colin Devroe and Kyle Ruane of Plain. Plain is a startup based in Carbondale, Pennsylvania and they recently launched Barley, a web editor for everyone. Barley allows you to write a blog without having to operate a complicated administrative backend like Wordpress and other CMSes do. Barley's motto is "Just tap and edit".

My guest for this episode is Tristan King, the owner of Shopify Ninjas, a consultancy based in Melbourne, Australia. He and his team help users of the popular hosted online store service Shopify set up, customize and optimize their stores.

My guest today is Joe Workman, a software developer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He's a prolific creator of add-ons for RapidWeaver, a popular web design tool for the Mac, for which he also wrote a book, the Rapid Weaver 5 Beginner's Guide. Joe also writes Mac apps, such as a database for managing your internet domains called DomainBrain and a menu bar app to control your Nest thermostat.

My guest in this episode is Thomas Holmes, a web designer, online marketer, ecommerce entrepreneur and writer. He's the author of Shopify & You, which teaches you how to get started with the hosted online store service Shopify and, most recently, "An introduction to Google Analytics for ecommerce", a free ebook about using Google Analytics to improve your online store's marketing.

In this first episode I interview Brett Kelly. Brett is the author of Evernote Essentials, a book for getting started with Evernote, the tool that lets users "remember everything" by storing text, photos, videos, audio and more. Brett sells his book from his website at nerdgap.com where he also writes a blog that covers technology, efficiency and business.
