Cooking With Nitro

Hola my friends, Why? What the…? Its all on the show, so go on and sit back, kick up your feet, and listen. Plenty of fun on this episode and a few surprises. Many people have posted their good byes on the Facebook account, I saved mine for here. The FB account has about 1,000 people on it, and 11,000 people download this. Yes, that is right, 11,000 people took a chance on a RC podcast and made it into something that no one ever thought that it would. Radio is a dying industry. I love radio. I hate the commercials but love radio. Nothing is better than talk radio with a good mix of people. I got into it today with a local radio guy named “BJ Shea”. And that was the challenge for me. I did not want to make this a career; much like YouTube videos and all of that I would never put on a resume as these are different than careers. Anyone on YouTube who feels that they are a producer or a marketing guy (without a degree) needs a reality check as they would be happy with a bottom level/ entry job. YouTube is a medium but it is also a place for regular people to display themselves. Now, I am not saying that some people obviously have talent, and I am not saying that you cannot earn a living off of it. It’s just not me, and in the end, you have no tangible skills that a job will document and teach. Difference there. I also loved podcasts. The difference between pods and radios is that if you mentioned radio to someone they know what you are talking about. Which is where Jug was when we first started talking about this. Joe too. What is a podcast? Many RC industry guys asked me the same thing. Id encourage them to give it a listen and then the download count would go up weekly. This podcast worked not because of a download count. It’s a work of art and expressionism. I didn’t care if the downloads were 200 a week or 11,000 and growing like it turned out. The podcast worked because of the people that were on it. I picked my people carefully. Jug would push back on me and keep in line and Joe was the loveable teddy bear. Later, with Jeff, he was the edgy and funny guy. And on the last show, with the 4 of us on, everything melted together into what I thought was perfect and into what I was dreaming of when I first thought of it. The 4 personalities molding perfectly into a seamless show where if I took my eye off the recorder for 1 second, 30 minutes would have gone by and we would have missed a Segway, topic, mention, or idea/ point. Dream fulfilled and many thanks to Jug, Joe, and Jeff (JJJ) for having fun with me. I sincerely hope that you all had as much fun as I did throughout the good, the bad, the frustrating, the nervous, and the enjoyable bits. Podcasting, as we have learned sounds sooo easy. But it was really very hard. For me, it was not just in charge of the flow and keeping things on track, but drops, and all else. I was turning knobs, adjusting, and altering as we go. Even for the guys sitting behind a mic, you had to be on your toes. And more importantly, you had to have talent. And that is what JJJ had. To the listeners, this show was nothing without you guys. The neat part is that you guys were as much a part of the show as anyone with a mic on. Your voices were heard on it. And even then, you actually helped us all understand a little more about the hobby. I could take a topic and say “no one can disagree with this stance” and the other sides would come up and they too were all logical. It might not have been my point of view but valid none the less. I got an email from a well-known buggy manufacturer where one of the top guys listened. They were stung by some of the things that we said about them but it made sense as well. Its actually going into advisement as constructive feedback to their development machine to be better. And likewise, I have changed my own mind on a few things over how the listeners felt.
