This week Thomas Jefferson Hour creator Clay S. Jenkinson returns to the "Jefferson 101" biographical series with the first of three shows devoted to Jefferson's time in Paris from 1784 to 1789.

This week President Thomas Jefferson (as portrayed by humanities scholar Clay S. Jenkinson) is presented with excerpts of speeches given at both Republican and Democratic conventions and asked to share his thoughts.

Clay Jenkinson is joined by his daughter Catherine to discuss their recent trip to Greece, her plans to study the classics and, of course, Thomas Jefferson.

As Clay says, “This is a tough one”. This week in a special out of character program, Clay Jenkinson discusses the recent episodes of violence occurring in America, and how Thomas Jefferson may have reacted to it.

Describing Jefferson Malone says, “Jefferson was a humanist in the complete sense of the word. Human beings always came first…His world is gone. His standards and values went with rural life.” Near the end of the show Clay receives a very special present from long time listener and friend of the Jefferson Hour Brad Crisler.

This week Dr. Bruce Pitts speaks with President Jefferson about Paris and about Andrea Palladio and the influence Palladio’s work had on Jefferson’s own architectural work.

This week we are so pleased to welcome Dr. Bruce Pitts who joins us to report about his recent trip to the Palladio Museum in Vicenza, Italy where he interviewed Doctor Beltramini, director of the museum, about connections between Thomas Jefferson and Andrea Palladio and how Jefferson was influenced by Palladio in his own architectural work. Palladio is widely considered to be the most influential individual in the history of architecture.
