Don't forget to stop by JapanesePod101.com for more great Japanese Language Learning Resources! -------Lesson Dialog------- ----Formal ---- 日本国憲法において、天皇は、日本国および日本国民統合の「象徴」と位置づけられており、国政にも関わらない存在である。 皇位は世襲であり、その継承は「皇室典範」に基づくことが定められている。 皇位は、およそ1500年にわたって唯一、天皇家が継承してきた。 天皇家は、「神」の子孫と信じられ、国民の信仰の対象ですらある。ゆえに、大陸に勃興した王朝などのように、「倒す」という対象には決してなりえなかった。 その結果、世界にも類を見ない特殊な皇位継承が繰り返されてきたのである。 しかし戦後、新憲法の発布とともに、統治権を有する「国家元首」から、「象徴」という立場へと歴史的大転換が図られることとなる。 すなわち、先代の昭和天皇とは異なり、現在の天皇は、即位したときから「象徴天皇」であった。 歴史上初めてとなる立場を、自ら模索しながら歩んでこられたのである。 今年8月、天皇は国民に向けて「生前退位」の意向を発表された。 「平成の玉音放送」とも呼ばれたこの「おことば」は、多くの国民に感銘を与え、いかに「象徴天皇」としての責務と「日本国憲法」を大切にされているかを、改めて知らしめることとなった。 国民は、「生前退位」について概ね賛成であるようだが、ことはそう簡単には運ばない。 なぜなら、皇位継承について定めた「皇室典範」には、「退位」が規定されていないからである。 天皇自らが発した「おことば」も含め、法改正などを促すことは、天皇が国政に関与するという解釈も成り立つ。 とはいえ、国民が天皇に対して同情を寄せているなかで、現内閣はこれを無視することもできない。 ようやく有識者会議が立ち上がったものの、これを「皇室典範の改正」で恒久的に行うか、「特別措置法」で一時的に行うか、議論は分かれている。 法的な矛盾点も含め、超えなければならない課題は多い。 （2016年10月末日現在） ----Formal Vowelled---- にほんこくけんぽうにおいて、てんのうは、にほんこくおよびにほんこくみんとうごうの「しょうちょう」といちづけられており、こくせいにもかかわらないそんざいである。 こういはせしゅうであり、そのけいしょうは「こうしつてんぱん」にもとづくことがさだめられている。 こういは、およそ1500ねんにわたってゆいいつ、てんのうけがけいしょうしてきた。 てんのうけは、「かみ」のしそんとしんじられ、こくみんのしんこうのたいしょうですらある。ゆえに、たいりくにぼっこうしたおうちょうなどのように、「たおす」というたいしょうにはけっしてなりえなかった。 そのけっか、せかいにもるいをみないとくしゅなこういけいしょうがくりかえされてきたのである。 しかしせんご、しんけんぽうのはっぷとともに、とうちけんをゆうする「こっかげんしゅ」から、「しょうちょう」というたちばへとれきしてきだいてんかんがはかられることとなる。 すなわち、せんだいのしょうわてんのうとはことなり、げんざいのてんのうは、そくいしたときから「しょうちょうてんのう」であった。 れきしじょうはじめてとなるたちばを、みずからもさくしながらあゆんでこられたのである。 ことし8がつ、てんのうはこくみんにむけて「せいぜんたいい」のいこうをはっぴょうされた。 「へいせいのぎょくおんほうそう」ともよばれたこの「おことば」は、おおくのこくみんにかんめいをあたえ、いかに「しょうちょうてんのう」としてのせきむと「にほんこくけんぽう」をたいせつにされているかを、あらためてしらしめることとなった。 こくみんは、「せいぜんたいい」についておおむねさんせいであるようだが、ことはそうかんたんにははこばない。 なぜなら、こういけいしょうについてさだめた「こうしつてんぱん」には、「たいい」がきていされていないからである。 てんのうみずからがはっした「おことば」もふくめ、ほうかいせいなどをうながすことは、てんのうがこくせいにかんよするというかいしゃくもなりたつ。 とはいえ、こくみんがてんのうにたいしてどうじょうをよせているなかで、げんないかくはこれをむしすることもできない。 ようやくゆうしきしゃかいぎがたちあがったものの、これを「こうしつてんぱんのかいせい」でこうきゅうてきにおこなうか、「とくべつそちほう」でいちじてきにおこなうか、ぎろんはわかれている。 ほうてきなむじゅんてんもふくめ、こえなければならないかだいはおおい。 （2016ねん10げつまつじつげんざい） ----Formal English---- In the Constitution of Japan, the Emperor is positioned as a figurehead of Japan and the Japanese people, and does not participate in government affairs. The imperial throne is hereditary, and the line of succession is prescribed based on the Imperial Household Law. The imperial throne has been in place for approximately 1,500 years, and has been inherited by the imperial family. The imperial family is believed to be descendant from God, and to be symbols of the national faith. Therefore, the family had the image of being one that could never be defeated by the great powers that rose on the continent. This resulted in repeated special successions of the throne which have not been seen anywhere else in the world. However, after the Second World War, a new constitution was enacted, and in addition, in a great historic transformation, the Emperor was moved from the position of head of state, which holds sovereignty, to the position of figurehead. In other words, unlike his predecessor, Emperor Showa, the current Emperor has been a symbolic emperor since the time of his coronation. This position is unprecedented in the history of the imperial family, and has been once that the current Emperor has had to explore himself. In August of this year, the Emperor announced his intention to abdicate. These words, also known as the Imperial Rescript on Surrender, impressed a great number of people, and demonstrated once again the responsibilities of a symbolic emperor, and how the Constitution of Japan is being respected. SMAP has been popular across generations since the late 1990s, and has enjoyed remarkable success in various fields. Its popularity is not limited to Japan; SMAP has accumulated a great number of fans across East Asia, especially in China, South Korea, and Taiwan. Its effect on diplomacy and economics in the region has been significant. Therefore, news of SMAP splitting up has not been limited to the entertainment industry, but has also had an impact on politics and business. The turmoil arising from differences of opinion with their agents at one point had shown signs of moving towards the group not splitting up. However, the split was announced suddenly late at night on August 14, 2016. All TV stations quickly announced the news, and NHK even interrupted its broadcast of the Olympics in Rio to provide this as breaking news Media across the world picked up on the story, and the New York Times reported that for the Japanese, this was an even bigger shock than when the Beatles split up. Many fans who thought they could somehow dissuade SMAP from splitting up, and who thought they could bring the five members back together, took action such as purchasing CDs and signing petitions, however the decision was not overturned. Although the announcement suggested this was more of a break, the fact that the members wish to split up has left their fans beside themselves. There has been a huge amount of speculation about the split up and the relationships between the five members, however, only the persons concerned know what the real story is.
