Between the Slides show

Between the Slides

Summary: "Between the Slides" is the moment students and instructors share to have real talk, not just focus on slide content. It is the moment project sponsors, teammates and project managers pause to have productive conversations and make decisions. Selfishly, this podcast started as a way for me to share my all-hazards incident management experience and to continue teaching from the comfort of my home. Thank you for choosing this program. **COMING SOON** - The 'People, Process, Progress' podcast that will spotlight people coming together to work a process together and how doing so can lead to progress for us all. Godspeed to you all on your personal and professional journeys, Kevin Kevin Pannell, PMP, PSC3, NREMT Creator and Host, Between the Slides podcast Facebook: Between the Slides Twitter & Instagram: pannellkg Website: www.betweentheslidescom

Project Management: Task Books for Project Managers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:26:47

After I took the required classes I was observed on many occasions working at the Unit level and in the Planning Section Chief (PSC) position.  This observation was documented in a "task book" and is a great process that allows a more seasoned PSC to observe, provide comment and eventually credential new Plans Chiefs. In my $.02 a key difference between the PSC task book and the process for submitting Project Manager experience for the PMP exam is the task book provides a built in mentoring tool. In this episode I share how similar criteria and processes could be used to credential Project Managers. Below are the high level areas I discuss in more detail in this episode: * PSC Requirement: Competency in subordinate positions -> PM Requirement: Competency as Scheduler and Coordinator * PSC Requirement: Competency to assume PSC role     -> PM Requirement: Experience and readiness to take on PM for project * PSC Requirement: Ability to lead assigned personnel    -> PM Requirement: Ability to facilitate teamwork and processes * PSC Requirement: Ability to communicate effectively   -> PM Requirement: Ability to facilitate project reporting and comms * PSC Requirement: Align assignments with objectives    -> PM Requirement: Validate task alignment with scope, budget and schedule Thank you all for listening, subscribing, rating, reviewing and providing your feedback.  ICS/IMT: Accountability and the Resource Unit | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:24:33

If there is one unit to stand up during a critical incident beyond a Unified Command and Operations, it is the Resource Unit.  Why? Because the primary responsibility of this Unit is to provide personnel accountability for our brothers and sisters in the field.  During this episode I’ll share how I’ve seen Resource Units succeed and fail for both planned events and no notice incidents as these experiences relate to portions of the NIMS ICS All-Hazards Resources Unit Leader EMI Course Number: E-965. "Between the Slides 5" for this episode: * You have to know the process and forms.  Well. * In the field start with accountability.  The forms and the process can wait. * Accountability should not be limited by patches. * Be well versed in helping Operations use resources more efficiently. * If you helped get resources in, you should be part of getting them home safely. Thank you all for listening, subscribing, rating, reviewing and providing your feedback on the various podcast platforms, my website and across the various socials listed below.
