Review #136 Jason Goes To Hell | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Film History in Videotape / The Summer of 1993 / Review #136 / Jason Goes To Hell So what happens when you take one of the most prolific slasher franchises of all time and mix in a little Lovecraft and some nods to Elm Street and Haddonfield?  You get 1993's Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday.  This 9th entry in the Friday the 13th series came out at the very end of the Summer of '93 and aside from the titular character does in no way resemble any of the movies that preceded it.  With a bigger budget than the previous slasher flicks and some ballsy ideas, it alienated alot of the fans and confused alot of non fans alike.  Go to Hell with Jason on Film History on Videotape!    jQuery.ajax({ url: "/home/episode_realtime_hits_ajax.php?blog=373313&uri=http://filmhistoryonvideotape.podbean.com/mf/web/7924b7/FHOV-JasonGoestoHell.mp3&episode_id=4894621", success: function(data) { jQuery("#hits_4894621").text(data); } }); Length [00:28:11]Download this episode (right click and save)

Review #134 The Fugitive | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Film History on Videotape / The Summer of 1993 / Review #134 / The Fugitive Alright, listen up, people. Our fugitive has been on the run for ninety minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground barring injuries is 4 miles-per-hour. That gives us a radius of six miles. What I want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, hen house, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is Dr. Richard Kimble. Go get him. It wasn't me.  It was the one armed man.  How does a film adaptation of a 60's TV show not only be such a crowd pleaser and win all kinds of awards and accolades, but also spawn one of the most recognizable quotes from the 90's?  Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones star in The Fugitive.  An almost perfect example of tense and thrilling movie making, it was loved in its time, but does it hold up well after two decades of aging?
