FHOV Podcast - Review #168: Jerry Maguire | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Film History On Videotape Podcast / American Football / Review #168 / Jerry Maguire I want some money!   We here at Film History on Videotape have this yelled at us only to answer "All of your hello's have me"  The year was 1996, and Tom Cruise could do no wrong.  Jerry Maguire is the story of a sports agent who has an emotional and professional quandary, and lives by his heart, not his wallet. Its an iconic film with many MANY quotable lines of dialogue that has survived over the years.  It won Cuba Gooding Jr. an Oscar, and made Miss Rene Zellweger a house hold name.  Is it good though?  Is this a shmaltzy accessible movie with the soulless face of a weirdo actor, or a modern masterpiece that has something for everyone?  Only one way to find that out.  Help us..... help you. Jam packed with a then current soundtrack of popular pop and rock fodder, does this movie bear watching after 15 years of sitting on a shelf? Download this episode (right click and save)

Review # 160 One Magic Christmas | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Film History on Videotape Podcast / Christmas Movies / Review #160 / One Magic Christmas Who needs Scrooge when you have Mary Steenburgen? Film History on Videotape reviews One Magic Christmas from 1985. This Disney studios production tells the story of a down on their luck working class family and how the spirit of Christmas conquers all. This was a home video favorite of ours during the month of December when we were kids so we thought it appropriate to re-visit it for our series of Holiday Movies. Tragic events, Santa Claus, The North Pole, and Harry Dean Stanton as the angel Gideon fill the screen in a quite somberly toned movie that kindof surprised us. Have you seen One Magic Christmas? Check it out! Download this episode (right click and save)
