Film History On Videotape Podcast / Beach Movies-Fourquels / Review #202 / Jaws: The Revenge The year was 1987, and the beaches were still not completely safe from the bloodthirsty monsters of the deep, so that's why Hollywood threw together this 4th and final Jaws movie entitled Jaws: The Revenge.  Starring Michael Caine and The Last Starfighter, this silly movie suggests that a man eating killer shark is on a personal quest of revenge to kill the family of Chief Brody from the original Jaws movie from 12 years earlier.  How does it fare?   Well come on you know we cant tell you that here.  FHOV Podcast - Review #201: Summer Rental | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Film History On Videotape Podcast / Beach Movies / Review #201 / Summer Rental Why buy a beach house when you can rent it?   That is the premise of Summer Rental starring John Candy, Rip Torn, and Richard Crenna.  The month of Beach Movies rolls along with this little comedy number from 1985.  This movie was a mainstay in 80's PG rated comedy complete with a Vacation meets Caddyshack premise and a soundtrack by Alan Silvestri.   Is it any good though?   Why doesn't it get the same nostalgic treatment that alot of 80's comedy flicks get?   Find out!  FHOV Podcast - Review #198: Back To The Beach | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Film History On Videotape Podcast / Beach Movies / Review #198 / Back To The Beach Beach movies are where it's at on Film History on Videotape this July and it would not be a series of beach movies without Back to the Beach, the blatant parody and homage to the beach party movies of yesteryear. Released back in 1987 (the heyday for pre Vietnam nostalgia) and starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello, it acts as an homage to a bygone era while simultaneously dating itself by trying to modernize it for an 80's audience. Its a hoot.  Enjoy! Download this episode (right click and save)

FHOV Podcast - Review #199: Point Break | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Film History On Videotape Podcast / Beach Movies / Review #199 / Point Break The year was 1991.  Keanu Reeves wasn't Neo and Pat Swayze was still on the rise as a hot new Hollywood star.  Enter Surfing and skydiving. Film History on Videotape adds another to the stable of Beach Movies in July with Point Break.  The 1980's seemed fixated on the idea that a good looking cop could go undercover just about anywhere, and so it goes with this action thriller directed by Kathryn Bigelow.  This flick is a home video cult classic for some reason despite the fact it was a decent success at the box office.  No sequel?  Oh a remake in 2015? Yawn.  Enjoy Point Break! Download this episode (right click and save)
